Announcing our new Executive Directors
After an extensive search process, we are pleased to announce that we have two Executive Directors (ED) who will be joining the Shanghai Sunrise Board, beginning 17 June 2024. The role will be split into two, with Michael Zhang leading as ED of Operations and Jessica Zimmerle leading as ED of Outreach.
With significant consideration given to the skills, experiences and expertise needed to successfully guide Shanghai Sunrise in its next phase of growth, please join us in welcoming Michael Zhang and Jessica Zimmerle to the Shanghai Sunrise team.
Getting to know the new Executive Directors: Michael Zhang and Jessica Zimmerle
As ED of Operations, Michael Zhang will be responsible for the daily operations of the organization. Michael starts this role with more than 20 years’ experience and success in both Chinese government and Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in China, including FMC, Heraeus, Harley-Davidson and Wacker. He is a professional public affairs, Environment, Health and Safety; and sustainability practitioner with deep knowledge and resources in such industries as chemicals, automobile, consumer, new energy and agriculture. Michael was awarded a Master’s Degree for the IMBA program at Spain IE Business School, in 2006.
As ED of Outreach, Jessica Zimmerle will be responsible for public relations, volunteer relations, fundraising and marketing. Join us in also welcoming Jessica, with over 13 years of experience in corporate (Panasonic Industrial Europe), hospitality industries (Le Meridien Hotels and Shangri-la Hotels) and non-profit organizations (Toastmasters International) in Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. She obtained her Master of Science in International Business Management and Bachelor of Business Management from Edinburgh Napier University, UK, as well as higher education degree from Bournemouth University, UK, and IHTTI Switzerland in Hospitality Management.
Being a student ambassador to Japan through the AFS exchange student program has shown her the importance of supporting youth education. Jessica is passionate about intercultural management and communication, traditional dances, travelling and exploring various cultures.
We look forward to continuing our mission of creating access to education through scholarships for underprivileged Shanghai youth, with our new Executive Directors.
