Special Celebration for Teacher's Day

Today we celebrate Teacher’s Day!

今天我们庆祝教师节！

On this occasion, I would like to send a greeting to a very special volunteer of Shanghai Sunrise - Teacher Jade Ding. To friends of Shanghai Sunrise and to our partner Shanghai Charity Foundation, she is well-known as “Ding Laoshi".

在这个日子里，我想把祝福送给上海初升的太阳一位特殊的志愿者—丁玉映老师。在上海初阳和合作伙伴上海市慈善基金会的朋友们当中，大家都亲切的称她为“丁老师”。

Having co-founded Shanghai Sunrise in 1996, Teacher Ding has been running the student selection process for 23 years, making her the organization’s longest serving volunteer. Every year, together with other volunteers, she visits up to 150 students at home, even on hot and rainy days.

作为上海初阳创始成员之一，23年来丁老师一直负责学生筛选评估的工作，她也是为上海初阳助学组织服务时间最长的志愿者。每年，她都要和其他志愿者一起走访近150户学生家庭，即使是最炎热夏季和风雨天，坚持不懈。

Teacher Ding has also always been wonderful at keeping in contact with our students, helping them solve their problems and become more confident and independent. Shanghai Sunrise has sponsored nearly 3,000 students over the past 23 years, and she got to know nearly all of them! Many of them have already become parents, and to this day keep a close relationship with her.

丁老师还付出很多时间和精力，与我们的学生保持联系，帮助他们解决问题，培养他们更加独立和自信的能力。迄今为止上海初阳资助了近3,000名学生，丁老师差不多见过每一位学生。很多学生现在都已为人父母了，依然与丁老师保持亲密的关系。
